If your Garmin device isn’t syncing properly or your step counts don’t match, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Enable Location Services
Due to recent software updates, your phone may now require Location Services to be turned on for syncing to work correctly.
You can enable this by going to:
Settings → Privacy → Location Services
If the issue persists, try enabling Location Services directly through the Garmin Connect app:
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Navigate to Activities or start any activity.
When prompted, tap Enable Location Services.
Then go to Settings → Apps → Garmin Connect.
Ensure Location Access is set to Always (especially when tracking GPS activities).
Enable Bluetooth
Bluetooth must be enabled for your Garmin device to sync properly.
Go to Settings → Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Then go to Settings → Apps → Garmin Connect and confirm Bluetooth permissions are enabled.
Sync Your Steps
We’ve recently updated our app to make syncing easier.
To sync your Garmin steps with Optimity:
Open the Optimity app and pull down on the home screen to refresh.
This will refresh your homepage and trigger a step sync.
Allow for Syncing Delays
If your steps or device data are not syncing immediately, please wait 5–10 minutes. Occasionally, there may be a delay in communication between Garmin and Optimity.
Garmin Is Syncing, but Steps Don’t Match
If you notice discrepancies between your Garmin device and the Optimity app, make sure only the Garmin integration is enabled.
To check this:
Tap your profile icon (upper-left corner of the home screen).
Tap Integrations.
If you see both Garmin and Apple Health enabled, tap the X next to Apple Health to remove it.
Reconnect Garmin Integration
Whether or not Apple Health was enabled, you can also try reconnecting Garmin:
Tap the X next to Garmin to disconnect it.
Tap Connect to reconnect your Garmin account.
